A cross-movement community of practice
The Hub

Purpose and vision

From a learning hub to shared movement infrastructure

The Hub is grounded in a shared realization. The challenges affecting women and girls are interconnected, while the movements responding to them are still too often separated by mandate, funding and institutional boundaries.

Members have already learned by acting together: pooling resources, running joint activities during the 16 Days of Activism, and mobilizing communities through platforms such as the Piga Chenga Festival.

The shift now is toward a durable cross-movement platform: shared infrastructure, shared narratives, shared learning, coordinated action and collective power.

Hands joined together in solidarity

Vision

A Tanzania where women and girls exercise power, shape public narratives, access rights and opportunities, and influence the systems and decisions that affect their lives.

Purpose

To strengthen the relationships, infrastructure, trust, shared strategy and collective capacity that enable feminist organizations and allied movements to build power together across issues, constituencies and communities.

Guiding principles

How members show up with one another, and with the women and girls whose lives this work is for.

Feminist leadership and power sharing

Women and girls are not only participants or beneficiaries. Their leadership, knowledge and lived experience inform priorities, strategies and public narratives.

Equity

Every partner brings valuable expertise, relationships and constituencies. No thematic partner is treated as inherently superior to another.

Transparency

Information on decisions, resources, responsibilities and results is shared openly among members to strengthen trust and accountability.

Mutual benefit

Collaboration must strengthen both the collective ecosystem and the organizations that contribute to it.

Community ownership

Grassroots women, girls and affected constituencies should influence what the Hub prioritizes and how collective action is designed.

Collaboration over competition

Members look for complementarity, reduce duplication and make space for joint problem solving rather than competing for visibility or ownership.

Care, safety and inclusion

Safeguarding, wellbeing, disability inclusion, non-discrimination and protection from retaliation are part of how the Hub works, not an afterthought.

Learning and adaptation

Learning is a collective practice. Evidence, reflection and feedback are used to improve decisions and strategies.
